Spain's Finance Ministry says it wants to postpone VeriFactu to October 2028

Spain plans to postpone pending VeriFactu duties to October 2028. The 2027 dates stand until the official gazette changes. PAYMMIO OS already invoices.

What happened

On 5 October 2026 the press office of Spain's Ministry of Finance published a note framed as a forecast: aligning the e-invoicing calendar with the invoicing-systems regulation (VeriFactu, Royal Decree 1007/2023). The ministry considers it appropriate to postpone the duties in that regulation that are not yet in force until October 2028, so they coincide with mandatory e-invoicing for businesses and self-employed professionals whose annual turnover does not exceed €8 million.

The note adds that, once that alignment is approved, a further change will bring the scope and some technical points closer to the digital-reporting requirements of the EU's ViDA directive. What stays, in substantially equivalent terms, are the requirements on integrity, retention, accessibility, legibility, traceability and inalterability.

La Vanguardia reported the announcement the same day. The text that binds today is a different one: Royal Decree-law 15/2025 sets 1 January 2027 for Corporate Income Tax payers and 1 July 2027 for everyone else. The note describes a forecast and a postponement still to be approved; on its own it is not the change published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

What it means for your laundromat

For a laundromat, the useful reading is this: the announcement gives breathing room if it reaches the Official State Gazette, and the date that binds you is the one the gazette publishes. Anyone billing more than €8 million sits outside the threshold the note uses as its anchor. Waiting until October 2028 to choose a payment system leaves the store exposed if the text slips or does not cover you.

PAYMMIO OS is already ready to invoice under VeriFactu. Every payment from the TNA Kiosk or from Retrofit immediately generates its simplified invoice, with the record chained by a fingerprint and with no delete or rewrite: an annulment is a new record. The closed month downloads as XML in the Spanish Tax Agency schema, ready to review and file correctly, plus CSV and Excel for the accountant. You can take payments and stay current now; if the postponement is approved, that time is margin, not a wait. The detail is in what VeriFactu requires from a laundromat.
