Spain postpones VeriFactu to 2027: the new calendar
Royal Decree-law 15/2025 delays VeriFactu by a year: 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed. What it means for your store.
What happened
On 2 December 2025, Spain's Council of Ministers approved a royal decree-law that delays by one year the obligation to adapt invoicing systems to VeriFactu. As El País explained, the deadline had been set for 1 January 2026 for Corporate Income Tax payers and 1 July 2026 for everyone else.
Under Royal Decree-law 15/2025, the dates move to 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed and other taxpayers. It's the second extension: the first, in April 2025, had already moved the original calendar.
According to Expansión, Parliament ratified the decree on 11 December 2025, confirming the new calendar. Software makers' obligation to offer compliant programs remains.
What it means for your laundromat
Our reading: the postponement gives you room, not an excuse. Compliant software already exists and the Tax Agency's services are running, so 2026 is the best year to switch without rushing.
If your laundromat is a company, your date is 1 January 2027. If you're self-employed, 1 July 2027. The step-by-step is in our VeriFactu guide.
